Lerud kattepensjonat whos is a cat pension/ cat hotel are located at our little farm in beautiful Romedal in Norway, about 100 km north of our capital Oslo. Lerud cat pension is a small, warm-hearted guest house that puts the cat’s welfare at first in everything we do. We have therefore created this as a pure cat pension without mixing with other animal breeds, and everything is built to meet the cat’s needs when they are on holiday with us while their owners are on holiday.
Lerud cat pension was opened on April 6, 2017 by Mayor Nils A. Røhne and our grandson Theo Gudbrandsen. During the construction of the Lerud cat pension, we have had a close dialogue with the Norwegian Food Safety Authority regarding the recommendations they have, and all material choices have been made so this guest house should be both safe for the cats and at the same time easy to clean and maintain.
We have created spacious cages with a large floor area and full headroom, and all cages have beds at several heights.
In this way, the cat can move freely in all dimensions when inside the cage, and all cats are released daily together with the other cats to activate in the common room within approx. 75 sqm and the playing yard outside of approx. 100 sqm.
We have 2 departments with 25 separate rooms inside and 9 separate rooms outside and a lot of free space both indoors (130 m²) and outside (100 m²). The new department inside has its own TV area where the cats are activated with their own Cat TV. A separate entrance has been built with a extra safery door in to the guest house, to prevent a cat from escaping when the door is opened.
Here at Lerud cat pension the cats can move freely in and out as they wish, and there is plenty of outdoor space in both sun and shade. Inside, an air conditioning heat pump is fitted in both compartments, so that it will be comfortable indoor temperature both in summer and wintertime. Animal welfare has been set as the first priority throughout the construction of the Lerud cat pension.
We have also emphasized safety, so we have an alarm system mounted regarding fire and burglary, with direct alert to the alarm center. Should a cat become ill, we also have the opportunity to remove this cat from the other cats to prevent infection, and we have our own agreement with veterinarian Lisel Huse Olsen at Mjøsa Hesteklinikk who has great competence in cats if medication or other veterinary assistance is needed.
We continuously post photos and videos from the guest house on our page on Facebook and Youtube channel which you can find under Lerud kattepensjonat, and we hope these pictures and video clips make you sure that we take care of your cat when you yourself are prevented from looking after them.Twice we have recived business support from our local municipality of Stange, based on the success the pension has become, and that we have helped to build a good reputation for the municipality of Stange in social media. In the summer of 2019 we built our own reception with waiting room if many come to deliver at the same time, It allows us to bring one and one cat into the guest house with one of their owners, so that we do not disturb the other guests with many strangers inside the guest house at one time. Children have to wait at reception, because many cats become anxious when children arrive and get loud when they see many cats. Those waiting at reception while the cat is delivered can follow this through a TV screen so they can see how the cat are behaving inside the guest house. We have also had journalists from both Hamar Arbeiderblad and Stangeavisa who have written very nicely about us, so you can read more here on the web article from Stangeavisa and the Internet article in Hamar Arbeiderblad and see more pictures there. In the summer of 2017, we recorded two videos about what life is like in the morning in the boarding house, and these videos have taken off completely, reaching over 150 million Facebook users worldwide. You can se the video here. It is clear that people like what they see of cat welfare in the guest house on these videos.
We welcome all 2- and 4-legged to Lerud cat pension.
